The Alchemist - review

The Guardian: For anyone who reads not only to escape reality but also to understand reality, The Alchemist can offer the best of both worlds.

This book was initially written by Paul Coelho in Portuguese. An international bestseller, this book was translated to more than 70 languages. I found the book to be magical. The choice of words are simple ensuring that a new reader understands and enjoys it too.

The Alchemist is a book I would ask people to read during times like these. The book bursts of optimism. The powerful emotions and wisdom gives you an amazing push forward in your life. The confidence not just to dream but to follow your dreams.

The book follows the journey of an Andalusian shepherd who has a recurring dream about a hidden treasure near the Pyramids. The obstacles he faces before he discovers his treasure. An advice given to the shepherd that I personally loved is that "When you really want something to happen, the whole universe will conspire so that your wish comes true" This book tells us to let go of our fears and chase the dream. And something that I understood was it is not only about chasing your dream to achieve it, but to enjoy the entire journey. The

struggles and milestones. The shepherd in the book meets a lot of dead ends. The book doesn't stop there nor does the shepherds journey. A lesson to learn in our lives too. No setback should stop us from moving ahead.

I bought this book thinking it is the best selling fiction novel instead when I finished reading it I felt it was more of a self help book that empowered one to follow their dreams. To entwine this into a fabulous story is what makes our Brazilian Author a best seller.

Love,

Celestial Light
